Winners of Digital and Technology Innovation Competition for Students & Startups Astranauts 2022 Revealed

JAKARTA: For 65 years, innovation has become a culture that is embedded in every step of Astra’s business journey in Indonesia. Today (8/22), Astra presented awards to the best innovative ideas in the digital and technology fields through Astranauts.

“Astranauts: Inspire, Innovate, Collaborate” is a digital and technology innovation competition for students and startups to support the development of digital and technological innovations in the country. There are five themes to choose from – Future of Mobility, Future of Finance, Industry 4.0, Sustainability and Emerging Technology.

Director of Information Empowerment of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, President Director of Astra Djony Bunarto Tjondro and the Directors of Astra attended the award ceremony of Astranauts 2022.

“We must develop synergies between the government, the private sector and educational institutions or academics to overcome the challenges of the demographic bonus and digitalization in the future. We value Astranauts 2022. It needs to be empowered to drive significant changes in our younger generations for Indonesia to be better prepared to face these challenges,” said Director of Information Empowerment of the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto in his keynote speech.

“Continuing collaboration and synergy is integral to every step and business activity at Astra. The programs for Astranauts: Inspire, Innovate, Collaborate were prepared to create a space for closer collaboration between students, startups and Astra that encourages innovative ideas to deal with current and future business challenges,” said President Director of Astra Djony Bunarto Tjondro.

Astranauts Inspirational Session Series

Astranauts presented Astranauts Week, which took place from August 15 to 22, 2022, via the website astra.agorize.com and consisted of a series of inspiring webinars, workshops, info sessions, digital showcases and Astra Virtual Job Fair.

Various interesting webinars, workshops and info sessions featured experts from Google, McKinsey, BCG, Microsoft, Accenture, Dalberg, A.T. Kearney, EY-Parthenon, Amazon Web Services, GK-Plug and Play, TopKarir and Astra.

The digital showcase session exhibited Astra’s digital products for one month, and Astra Virtual Job Fair is Astra Group’s recruitment event for fresh graduates and job seekers.

Demo Day and the award ceremony concluded the Astranauts 2022 series, showcasing 20 best innovation ideas as finalists selected from nearly 1,000 participants and 500 submissions. The winner announcement was broadcast through the digital platform 65tahunastra.jagat.live. The following is a list of the winners from each category:

Student Category:
1st Place

Gromo, with an innovation called “Smart transportation for livestock with smart decision system” (Industry 4.0 theme).

2nd Place

Bumikan, with an innovation called “A Platform that provides one-stop solution for death and after-life services” (Sustainability theme).

3rd Place

Auto Digda, with an innovation called “Automatic guided vehicle can transform into 4 types: unit loads, arm robot, towing and forklift” (Industry 4.0 theme).

Benoit, with an innovation called “Replacing silicon PV which is simpler, cheaper and suitable for bio-based implementation” (Sustainability theme).

Startup Category:

1st Place

Crustea, with an innovation called “Eco-aerator with IoT to increase pond productivity and reduce operational costs” (Emerging Technology theme).

2nd Place

Tenang Heroes, with an innovation called “Siri/Alexa for first aid mental health help, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and AI” (Emerging Technology theme).

3rd Place

Robotika Nusantara, with an innovation called “Robotics education for early age kids through workshops, in-house curriculum and learning kits” (Industry 4.0 theme).

All winners received cash prizes: First Place-Student Rp30 million, Second Place-Student Rp20 million, Third Place-Student Rp10 million, First Place-Startup Rp75 million, Second Place-Startup Rp50 million and Third Place-Startup Rp25 million.

Moreover, winners from the startup category also have the opportunity to collaborate and become part of Astra startup community. There was also a two-week exclusive mentorship session with experts for all Astranauts finalists.

Astranauts is Astra’s effort to accelerate the digital ecosystem in Indonesia that is in line with Astra’s mission to prosper with the nation and support Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
