Astra’s 65th Anniversary Celebrates National MSME Day and Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia

JAKARTA: Astra again celebrated its 65th Anniversary today (8/18), this time boasting the culture of Sulawesi and commemorating National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day and the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI). The festivity was part of a series of events celebrating Astra’s 65th Anniversary that kicked off in February.

The Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of RI Teten Masduki, Director of Astra Gita Tiffani Boer and Astra People from across Indonesia attended the event virtually.

“We hope Astra can strengthen the MSME partnership program through its Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation and subsidiaries. Hopefully, all collaborative efforts and synergies between ministries, institutions, local governments, SOEs and the private sector, especially Astra, can significantly drive national economic growth and improve people’s welfare,” said Minister Teten Masduki in his keynote speech.

In her remarks, Astra Director Gita Tiffani Boer emphasized that during its 65-year journey, Astra has not been solely focused on growing its business but also on building high-quality human capital and developing sustainable social contributions.

“As of the end of 2021, Astra has fostered over 15,900 MSMEs, 24 Business Development Institutions, 878 people with disabilities and 125 startups, boosting entrepreneurship in Indonesia,” said Astra Director Gita Tiffani Boer.

Like the previous 65th Anniversary events held in February, May and June, all of this month’s inspiring sessions: Sustainability Webinar, Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation (YDBA) Anniversary, InnovNation Webinar, Astra Career Meet Up, Virtual Exhibition and Sulawesi Cultural Exhibition (Kreasi Nusantara Wilayah Sulawesi) can be accessed via the digital platform 65tahunastra.jagat.live until August 20, 2022.

On the first day, Astra hosted a Sustainability Webinar themed “Building Resilience through SMEs & Local Village Products in Indonesia” with moderator Anjani Sekar Arum, winner of the 2017 SATU Indonesia Awards. Speaking in this webinar representing MSMEs supported by YDBA were Shipper Assistant Vice President Marina Hindarko and MSME ABC Wooden Toys Founder Rita Indriana. The day was concluded with YDBA’s anniversary celebration. YDBA is a foundation formed by Astra that focuses on fostering MSMEs in the country.

For the second day, there will be InnovNation Webinars. The first webinar will bring the theme “Hyperlocal Business, Reliable MSMEs”, presenting Djamaludin, a winner of the 2017 SATU Indonesia Awards and the initiator of Vegetable Village (Kampung Sayur) in Kampung Berseri Astra (KBA) Kanreapia, South Sulawesi. The second session, with the theme “21st Century Entrepreneurship”, will have Diana Rikasari (IWEARUP Founder, fashion designer and book author) sharing her experiences.

Astra Career Meetup session “Project management 101” with YDBA Board Secretary Ida Rotua M. Sigalingging and Astra Agro Communications & Investor Relations Manager Fenny Anggraeni will be the final event of the second day. Finally, Astra’s 65th Anniversary celebration in Sulawesi Region will be concluded with “Kreasi Nusantara Wilayah Sulawesi” on the third day.

The 2022 Astra Entrepreneurship Festival opened the series of Astra’s 65th Anniversary events in the Sulawesi Region with a maiden export ceremony of flagship products from three Desa Sejahtera Astra (DSA), namely DSA Wakatobi, DSA Bombana and DSA Bone, with a total transaction value of Rp6.5 billion in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on August 12.

77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia

Astra commemorated Indonesia’s Independence Day yesterday (8/17) with a flag hoisting ceremony involving all Astra People in Indonesia. In Jakarta, the ceremony was held at Menara Astra and attended by a limited number of participants, broadcast live via the digital platform 65tahunastra.jagat.live. Astra President Director Djony Bunarto Tjondro led the ceremony.

Astra also released the premiere episode of Independence Day Fun Competition with Astra (17an Seru Bareng Astra) on the digital platform 65tahunastra.jagat.live and SATU Indonesia YouTube channel to celebrate Indonesia’s 77th Independence Day. Follow-up episodes will be broadcast on SATU Indonesia YouTube channel on August 21, 25 and 29, 2022. “17an Seru Bareng Astra” features Tarra Budiman as host and Refal Hady, Yuki Kato, Arafah, Ardit Erwandha, Dhinda Salsabila, Derrick Michael and Astra YouTubers as participants.

Finally, Demo Day and Astranauts 2022 Awarding Ceremony—the highlight of Astra’s digital innovation competition for students and startups scheduled for August 22, 2022, will conclude the series of celebrations for Indonesia’s Independence Day this year.

Using the main theme “The Spirit of Moving and Growing Together” for its 65th Anniversary celebrations, Astra hopes to share positive spirit and optimism, the spirit to move and grow together towards a better future with the wider community in all parts of the country.

For its next series of events to celebrate the 65th Anniversary in September and November, Astra will bring the colors of Kalimantan and Bali, Nusa Tenggara and Eastern Indonesia.

The entire series of Astra’s 65th Anniversary celebrations are in line with Astra’s mission to prosper with the nation and support Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals.
