Astra Supports Terrace Revitalization in ITB’s Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

16 September 2022

JAKARTA: To improve the quality of young talents in educational institutions in Indonesia, Astra supports the revitalization of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FMAE) terrace infrastructure of the Bandung Institute of Technology (Institut Teknologi Bandung/ITB) today (9/16) by utilizing renewable energy.

ITB Institute Secretary Prof. Dr. Ing. Ir. Widjaja Martokusumo, Dean of FMAE ITB Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara and Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Riza Deliansyah attended the inauguration of the commencement of the FMAE terrace construction.

“This form of support to FMAE ITB is one of Astra’s contributions to improving the quality of education in Indonesia. We hope it will be useful to lecturers and students and encourage collaboration between the education sector and the industry sector to bolster Link & Match, bringing benefits to all,” said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Riza Deliansyah.

The terrace will be built on the site where FMAE’s pool used to be – an iconic place where students would meet and gather. In order to keep that spirit of togetherness, the revitalization project involves ITB alumni to realize the Solidarity 6.0 concept, which emphasizes mutual cooperation (gotong royong).

The FMAE terrace, designed with kinetic architecture and utilize renewable energy such as solar panels, demonstrates the efforts to address current environmental problems.

A series of solidarity challenges for encouraging a sense of solidarity in making the FMAE ITB terrace a reality is organized. The challenge is a 70,000 km virtual run which will later be converted into funding for the construction. The virtual run solidarity challenge period will be held from November 2022 to April 2023.

Previously, Astra had provided a grant to build the ITB Science and Techno Park (STP) building, an educational facility where researchers, innovators and industry meet to create innovations.

Astra’s contributions in the field of education in Indonesia are in line with Astra’s mission to prosper with the nation and support Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals.
