Astra Supports Indonesia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai Visited by Over 200,000 People

JAKARTA: Astra, the main sponsor of the Indonesia Pavilion, participated in the Indonesia National Day festivities at Expo 2020 Dubai (4/11) that presented Indonesia’s cultural wealth, natural beauty, and trade opportunities to the world.

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, visited the Indonesia Pavilion and attended the Indonesia National Day to witness a spectacular show for the Expo 2020 Dubai participants. Accompanying the president were Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Lutfi and several other relevant ministers, and the Director of Astra, Gita Tiffani Boer. As of early November, the Indonesia Pavilion had attracted more than 200,000 visitors.

Indonesia National Day is a grand event for Indonesia held on the main stage of Al Wasl Plaza, Expo 2020 Dubai, hoping to attract the global community and participants from 192 countries.

“Indonesia presents the diversity of the country’s cultural wealth, natural beauty, and investment opportunities with attractive visualizations. We hope that Astra’s support to Indonesia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai could attract potential buyers, investors, and tourists from all over the world,” said Director of Astra, Gita Tiffany Boer.

Astra’s contribution to Indonesia Pavilion is also a form of appreciation to Middle Eastern countries. They are important partners to Indonesia for they are export destination countries for four-wheeled vehicles from Indonesia.

From January to September 2021, Astra Group and principals had exported Toyota products such as Fortuner, Innova, Sienta, Vios, Yaris, Avanza, and Rush to 12 countries in the Middle East and Africa, namely Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, and Tunisia.

Total exports of Astra Group’s Toyota and Daihatsu products from January to September 2021 to more than 80 countries reached 131,094 units or 63.2% of the total national exports of four-wheeled vehicles.

Indonesia Pavilion, presenting the “Creating the Future, from Indonesia to the World” concept, was inaugurated by the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Lutfi, on October 1, 2021.

Expo 2020 Dubai has three distinct themes for the 192 pavilions, each theme showcased in a dedicated district: Sustainability District, Mobility District, and Opportunity District. The Indonesia Pavilion takes place in the Opportunity District with the concept of Golden Indonesia 2045.

The Indonesia Pavilion consists of three floors and occupies an area of 1,860 m2 and a building area of approximately 3,000 m2.

Astra is also taking part in weekly themes over the next six months until March 31, 2022, prepared by the Indonesia Pavilion. The themes highlight the diversity of Indonesia’s trade, investment, culture, and tourism potentials and excellence and Indonesia’s role in realizing prosperity focusing on sustainable development and climate change mitigation.

The Indonesia Pavilion has participated in events similar to Expo 2020 Dubai five times. Meanwhile, for Astra, this is the third time the Company has supported this kind of event after participating in Expo 2010 Shanghai and Expo 2015 Milan.

Astra’s support to Indonesia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is in line with Astra’s mission to prosper with the nation and Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals.
