11 Resilient Young People Win the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 from Astra

JAKARTA: On the 93rd anniversary of Youth Pledge Day, October 28, eleven young changemakers won the 12th Semangat Astra Terpadu Untuk (SATU) Indonesia Awards 2021 from Astra.

The enthusiasm and tenacity of the eleven young people were apparent at the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 virtual ceremony held today (28/10).

With the theme “Spirit of Moving Forward Together”, which is in line with this year’s Youth Pledge Day theme “Unite, Rise, and Grow”, the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 shared the winners’ stories of their tireless efforts to bring change in their respective community.

Inspirations from their stories could be heard in the inspirational talk session, Astra Talks. There was also a performance from Tulus, a musician who often spread positive messages through his works, at the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 award ceremony.

“A time full of challenges like today apparently does not dampen the enthusiasm of young people across Indonesia to keep working. We hope that the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards will encourage more young people to become inspirations of moving forward together to advance the nation, ” said Presiden Director of Astra, Djony Bunarto Tjondro, in his remarks at the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 award ceremony today (28/10).

The eleven winners of the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 comprise six general category winners and five special category winners.

The six young people from the general category with positive contributions to their respective community are:

1. Rahmad Maulizar, “Creating Smile and Giving New Hope for Children with a Cleft Lip” – Banda Aceh, Aceh (Health field).

2. Achmad Irfandi, “Initiator of Cultural Conservation ‘Kampung Lali Gadget'” – Sidoarjo, East Java (Education field).

3. Arky Gilang Wahab, “Initiator of Organic Waste Conversion System Program towards Food Security” – Banyumas, Central Java (Environmental field).

4. Yudi Efrinaldi, “Pioneer of ‘Es Gak Beres yang Sangat Beres'” – Asahan, North Sumatra (Entrepreneurial field).

5. Hendra, “Empowering Fishermen with ‘Lobstech’ through IOT-Based Technology Implementation” – Jember, East Java (Technology field).

6. Siti Salamah, “Initiator of Technology-Based Integrated Waste Management System” – South Tangerang, Banten (Group category).


Like last year, there is a special category: Selfless Heroes of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The five winners of this category are:

7. Elmi Sumarni Ismau, “Friend of People with Disabilities from Kupang” – Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara.

8. Gede Andika, “Initiator of Language Education and Environmental Literacy from Pemuteran Village” – Buleleng, Bali.

9. Maman Sulaeman, “Developer of Learning Assessment Application ‘Tanpa Sinyal, Tanpa Server'” – Pekalongan, Central Java.

10. Muhammad Zidny Kafa, “COVID-19-Aware Stage Crew” – Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

11. Vania Febriyantie, “Urban Farmer with Advance Payment” – Bandung, West Java.

Each winner of the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 received an activity grant of Rp60 million and development programs that can be merged with Astra’s sustainable social contribution programs: Kampung Berseri Astra and Desa Sejahtera Astra. Currently, Astra has fostered 133 Kampung Berseri Astra and 930 Desa Sejahtera Astra across 34 provinces in Indonesia.

Award Recipients at Provincial Level

Besides the eleven SATU Indonesia Awards recipients at the national level, Astra also presented awards to 85 recipients at the provincial level, bringing the total recipients of SATU Indonesia Awards up to this year to 493, comprising 81 national-level recipients and 412 provincial-level recipients.

The favorite of 22 finalists is Gede Andika, “Initiator of Language Education and Environmental Literacy from Pemuteran Village” – Buleleng, Bali (Selfless Heroes of the COVID-19 Pandemic special category).

Support for a favorite finalist was shown by casting votes online from October 4 to October 10, 2021, at www.satu-indonesia.com/sia2021vote. The finalist with the most votes is entitled to an activity grant of Rp10 million.

Winners of the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 at the national and provincial levels were chosen from a total of 13,148 applicants through a series of rigorous judging and selection processes. The number of applicants for this year’s SATU Indonesia Awards increased by 31.01% compared to last year, and it has been gradually increasing since it was first held in 2010 with 120 applicants.

The judges of the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 are:

2. Prof. Emil Salim (Lecturer at the Environmental Science Postgraduate Program, Universitas Indonesia),

3. Prof. Fasli Jalal (Rector of Universitas YARSI & Postgraduate Professor at Universitas Negeri Jakarta),

4 Ir. Tri Mumpuni (Founder of People-Centered Business and Economic Institute),

5. Onno W. Purbo Ph.D. (Information Technology Expert),

6. Arif Zulkifli (President Director of PT Tempo Inti Media Tbk),

7. Dian Sastrowardoyo (Art Activist),

8. Billy Boen (Founder of Young On Top),

9. Boy Kelana Soebroto (Head of Corporate Communications Astra),

10. Diah Suran Febrianti (Head of Environment & Social Responsibility Astra).
